
Energy drinks are becoming more and more popular these days, particularly with the "sugar free" varieties. These drinks are loaded with sugar or sugar alternatives, acid and preservatives and that little bit of ginseng root isn't going to remedy the damage to your teeth, gut and heart.
According to the CDC, younger and middle-aged Americans are more likely to experience morbidity or death directly related to consumption of sugar - more so today than in 2011. The main culprit is lifestyle related disease, like obesity and diabetes. Even sugar free alternatives are implicated with an increased risk of diabetes and cardiac disease. We recommend moderation or perhaps some black coffee and save yourself the sugar / sugar alternative and preservatives.
